Crunch time...

Its that time in your FFRR ownership where you are making a list of the ' little' jobs that need doing on the vehicle to keep it perfect whist adding up the cost of those said jobs and parts. Up to around £1000 now on a 126K 2007 3.6 vogue, the biggest job being the replacement of the well known leaky thermostat housing( if any one will do it as 2 landie independents won't even return calls to say - certainly sir, when would you like to book it in) and a new air tank
Had a look through the ads for a replacement but it sort of strikes me I'll just be starting again with the commencement of a list of ' little' jobs I've already been doing over the last 4 years. Decisions, decisions. What did you do ?

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Do not ask me, I have spent almost £1k for each mile travelled over the last 18 months. Big Cry

On the plus side the; bodywork, wheels, tyres, shocks and brake lines are now much better. Just hope the engine and gearbox hold on a bit longer! Shocked 2010 Range Rover TDV8 Baltic Blue Autobiography (2011 MY) - SOLD Sad

This is asking for trouble I know, but so far all the jobs on my car have been small, arguably cosmetic and I've done some.

The outstanding ones are:

1. Replace a speaker grill on rear OS door (very slight superficial damage)
2. Deployable steps and towbar don't always deploy (but have always worked eventually)
3. No GPS signal from roof aerial (I've become a wazer and I like it)
4. Bracket broken on front OS step (but it works fine as it is)
5. Put on summer wheels (is it summer yet?)
6. Give it a wash

I'm sure I'll get round to them all eventually but no rush - I've had replacement speaker grills for well over a year now!

Like I say no rush Very Happy Geoff

Strikes me that £1000 for a car of this size, "quality" and age isn't too bad.

Last week, I took my Audi in for service - similar age. Service cost itself wasn't too bad, although it's a 4.2V8 so with the amount of oil going in, it's never going to be "cheap". However, it also needs the spark plugs replacing every 60k/5yrs - I like to use OEM or equivalent quality parts, so that's 8 plugs at ~£20 each (plus labour). Then the aircon service was due (in fact, 1 year overdue due to corona), the alignment also needed checking and adjusting. So although there was nothing "wrong" with the car when I took it in, we weren't far off £1000 in regular maintenance. Then there was a small oil leak - but that turned out to be from the seperator which is right at the back of the engine. Also, because the pipes connecting it were 10+ years old, they needed replacing too. That's anoter £250+ in (OEM) parts and when all was said and done, a similar amout in labour (it had 3 days in the garage in all).

RR is in for service next month, so I can look forward to being skint all summer. But I guess that's just the way it is. 2012 RR Westminster TDV8
