The door on my fuel filler won't stay in the open postition and makes filling up a pain.

Looks the same as mine, which stays open, so maybe something missing a bit deeper in there...

Yes, it's a strange one. No resistance at all as though it's just on a hinge. 2011 Vogue SE TDV8 |

Just take it out then you can see from the back what is happening with the mechanism when you operate it, sounds like the spring clip is not seating correctly.or the bracket is worn. |

See if this helps, a video of it opening, the silver part is a spring that is retained at the back of the black plastic bit, I expect the plastic has broken, mine has cracks where the arrow is in the photo so will probably fail soon...

Yes, you must unscrew the cap and at the threaded end of the cap is the male peg that goes into the top of the inside fuel door. this ingeniously holds the door open while not scratching the paint of your RR. While we are on the subject does everyones fuel door lock still function? Mine never worked ever since I owned it! |

For the fuel filler cap locking, maybe the small piston is seized, try some penetrating fluid, failing that the solenoid or whatever activates it could have failed. I always use some silicone grease on mine. |

If that is all that holds your door open then yours is broken as well, the door has a distinctive held open position, it does not just flap about until you put the cap in it's retainer.... Locking solenoid is not a common failure, easy to swap though if some spray doesn't help... I've ordered one in Stornoway Grey from eBay complete with all the mechanism. I can compare them and see if something has come away from mine. If not I'll just swap them over. Only £19 and I'll have a spare door too. 2011 Vogue SE TDV8 |

Sorted it today. The used one of eBay arrived and once I removed the original one you can see the broken piece of plastic on the back. Doesn't look fixable. Swapped the hinges over and all good now.

You don't see that very often a cheap fix for a FFRR problem |
