ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT?

Every 5 to 10 days I get the ENGINE STSTEM FAULT message for a second just as the engine starts on the first start of the day. It does not come on at any other time.

The FF runs and starts perfectly.

Any ideas why I am getting this occasional message?

Thanks in advance...

Read codes with iCarsoft reader:

No faults found relating to engine.

Noted the following readings with engine running at idle:

Boost pressure actuator Bank 1 - 0.76%
Commanded boost actuator control Bank 1 - 76.47%
Commanded boost actuator control Bank 2 - 76.08%
Swirl valve actuator 95%

Does this all look ok?

Thanks....

Thanks Stan, I’ll have a read through Thumbs Up

I don’t understand why no fault is showing up on the reader given that the car showed ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT this morning?

Maybe I’m not using the iCarsoft properly....

Is this likely to be caused by a split in a top intercooler hose?

I know one of them has been replaced.

Both top hoses removed, cleaned and checked….both in perfect condition.

No DTC on reader.

Last ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT message was on Thursday morning on first start, nothing since. Vehicle running perfectly.

Could it be actuator/s needing lubricated?

Thanks Stan, I’ll get the actuators checked/lubricated and go from there…..

Still can’t understand why no DTC has been logged and reported on the reader Question

I think what is described here is the occassional, random and very momentary popping up of the 'Engine System Fault' message which occurs as the car is turning over but actually before it has actually started. No other accompanying warning lights. Mine does this perhaps every 2-3 weeks. It started after the starter motor was replaced. As it happens when the engine isn't actually running I haven't followed it up yet. The car continues to run perfectly. I am curious as to what it might be however!

Thanks zeb. Yes the situation is exactly as you describe. I have had battery drain issues recently resulting in a replacement battery and a new alternator both which were not required as the drain was finally traced to fuse 49! The ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT message started at this time- I put it down to a low battery but now that the issue has been resolved the message is still randomly appearing!

How long has yours been doing this for?
