Any thoughts before we jump blindly into FFRR ownership

Hi All

Having been Defender drivers for the last 35 years 😱 we have decided to move across to a FFRR

We’ve found what we think is a good option

https://www.harwoods.uk.com/landrover/used...003099034/

Any thoughts, advice, suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks all

I've owned 4 TDV6 cars and the engine is smooth, quiet and trouble-free. MPG not bad, around 27mpg true average (30mpg on the in-car computer).

If you are towing, i would have thought the V8 better but have no experience of towing with either engine. All LR cars from 1984

The SDV8 also gets the active Stability feature which the SDV6 doesn't. This does make a difference in "spirited" driving and cornering by all accounts.

Thoughts; I wouldn’t like the low power (under powered?) version. But then again when you come from a defender it may not be an issue. I just wouldn’t like feeling I have to do a Fred Flintstone all the time.

I test drove the TDV6 and the SDV8 - to be honest they were both great! The TDV6 was noticeably better on fuel, but IMO the SDV8 suited the car so that what I went for.

If i had got the TDV6 I would probably have been just as happy! Very Happy

I had a TD5 90 as well, both will feel like a spaceship!

Don't sell the Defender, would be my only advice. I regret it and have spent a while looking for a 110 again, only now realising what I had. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
Previously George a 2007 MY07 Java Black VSE 3.6 TDV8
Previously a 04 MY04 Defender 90 Sad

Looks nice, though a full fat in that colour red isn't to everyone's tastes.

On the engine size I only went for a 4.4 cos with engines, bigger is allows better and the 4.4 is a cracker. I might have been swayed by the 3.0 too but the crankshaft issues, however unlikely to happen, put me off.

Whichever you get you shouldn't be disappointed. L405 4.4 AB Loire Blue

I agree with Bmax1, it was my main point that put me off a V6, I only searched for V8 in the end and I am sorry but in my opinion Red was never even in my thoughts lol even with my avatar lol

Red belongs to the RRS clan Rolling with laughter

Good luck cant wait for the FFRR grin. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Two considerations:

1. There are many Range Rovers out there that are not ugly.
2. The V6 diesel has some casting problems resulting in the occasional crankshaft breaking.

Look for a slightly older car with the supercharged V8.
