Cheap fix that worked for my sat nav | |
Hi, my Tdv8 07 cars, satnav failed, upon exami ING the dvd disc I noticed it was scored, as though something in the satnav dvd reader had made repeated contact with it.
I bought a replacement dvd reader off ebay and a non original suitable and current dvd sat nav disc.
Installed it, put disc in, it worked for a week, then became hit n miss, throwing up various, errors.. Junk!
So, I thought ill take another look at the original Land rover silver dvd disc, I thought I've got nothing to lose so I'm going to polish the hell out of it, as you might do with your hazy headlamp lenses, I started with Farecla G3,, then G10, then Maguiars compound, then Brasso! finishing with Autoglym extra shine, always rubbing from centre of disc to outer in straight lines... Polish off, disc looked hugely better and yep... Works perfectly and hads done for 3 weeks The plastic coating on the disc is thicker than I imagined and obviously allows a good polish before reaching the data"pits" and ruining it..If yours, is, similar, try it, what's to lose? Cheap fix to gain maybe! 2008 L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 in Java Black with parchment and Navy interior. 125000mls.
I used to be indecisive and have a split personality... but we are ok now...I think?
