L322 2007 Key Transponder - Help

Hi Everyone

I bought a 2007 3.6 TDV8 from a guy, with a couple of issues. One being that both keys can lock/unlock the car MANUALLY, but not remotely. When locking the car, all doors lock, hazards blink and immobilizer is active, when unlocking MANUALLY (locking and unlocking is done at driver's side door) it unlocks normally, but as soon as the door is opened, the alarm goes off, hazards go off etc, putting the key in the ignition or even very close, alarm stops, hazards stop, and car is mobilized, starts, and all procedures and operation are normal.

Problem is that Land Rover suggest getting 2 new keys, need to imported from the UK at 500 pounds for the pair, or they can try and re program the keys, but they cant guarantee any success?

My main Problem is that the closest Land Rover Dealer is 800 km away?

Never had any problems starting the car or unlocking the steering with any of the 2 keys, everything works except the central locking when operated from the keys.

Icarsoft scan says 'key transponder"

I have tried the method of programming the keys with putting the ignition on 1, remove, press lock button for 5 sec ......
not working?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

What type keys do you have Groen, is it the BMW shaped key or the matchbox sized flip key? I think it was 2007 they changed.
At the same time they moved the ignition barrel from next to the gearshift to higher up on the dash.

If you cannot synch the keys to the car for central locking, it may need the previous key synch entries deleting from the system. I have the same problem. The Icarsoft will not do this. will try to find a previous post / thread on this, you need a different device, all I get from auto locksmiths where I live and the main dealer is you cannot do this - all B/S as they all want to sell me new original keys at huge cost.

What I do not understand is that the keys are the original keys? The photo is a random pic to show what the key looks like.

Ok, so here's the procedure for re-initialising the keys. Read through it a few times so you're familiar with it as you won't have to to read it whil you're doing it;

1, Open driver's door, get in and close door behind you.
2, Turn the ignition on but do NOT start car. Count to about 3 seconds then switch off and REMOVE key.
3, With the thumb of one hand press and hold the big oval button.
4, While still holding the oval button, with your other hand press the button with the big arrow on three times.
5, Release all buttons. You should then hear the doors lock, then unlock.
6, Repeat steps 3 to 5 ONLY with thew other key within a few seconds. Again, you should hear the doors lock and unlock.

If you follow the above accurately and there is no other problem, you should be able to get out the car and lock the doors remotely.

Incidentally, in answer to your earlier question about the alarm going off but you can still start the car.
You have to consider there are two elements to the key; the immobiliser, and the remote locking/alarm.
By unlocking the car remotely you will unlock the car (Surprise surprise), and disable the alarm. At this point the car is still immobilised. When you offer the key up to the ignition barrel, there is an aerial withing the barrel shroud that is looking for an immoilisor chip contained within the key. As long as the chip in the car is that which has been programmed as being 'friendly' either at manufacture or by a main dealer, it this allows the car to start.
This is why even in the car is locked and alarmed, if you unlock it manually the alarm will sound when you open the door because you haven't de-activated the alarm, but as soon as the immobiliser aerial detects a friendly key it then disarms the alarm and allows the car to start.

Anyway, let us know how you get on.
