Just noticed tonight that my headlight delay stopped working when lights are on auto. Any ideas folks?

As a starting point, it might be worth having a look in the ‘Vehicle Set-up’ menu on the instrument display in case it has somehow become switched off? Would be nice if it was a simple fix like this! 2012 Westminster TDV8 4.4 Indus Silver

OK, update. The rain sensor for wipers isn't working and the auto lights come on during daylight. Go off when car is switched off.

The rain/light sensor connects directly to the Body Control Module (BCM) and not the Light Control Module (LCM), as you would naturally infer. Therefore, there's a daisy chain of potential causes (windscreen - rain/light sensor - BCM - LCM - lights)

It is known for the diodes to go inside the rain/light sensor and it's a 10 minute job to change it so, you could try this (brand new are £65 from main dealer).

However, it may not solve the issue.

If the windscreen is not a genuine Land Rover windscreen, this can impact the rain/light sensor's performance and cause the weird behaviour you're experiencing (I get a similar issue - my courtesy lights turn on for 1 second then immediately go off). If it isn't an original windscreen AND, you've changed the rain/light sensor, you may need to resign yourself to it never working properly again.

That's because changing the windscreen would be an un-necessary expense. If it wasn't the windscreen, data errors can develop between the BCM and the LCM, causing the fault. I haven't come across anyone that knows how to repair this part of the BCM so, you'd be looking at replacement $$$$, which just wouldn't be worth it. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I've had the car for over 2 years, it's still the same screen. So I guess it's the sensor.

The windscreen would have a Land Rover logo on it if it's genuine.

The problems can develop at different times though. Because the BCM serves the rain/light sensor, it's not guaranteed replacing the sensor will fix anything but, it's a cheap fix and it's common for these to fail as they get older so, it's worth doing regardless.

Part number is probably. YDB500320. You'll also need to order the gel pad for the sensor, if you want to replace the windscreen cover also.

To access it, move the rear view mirror so that the right hand corner is facing the windscreen. Gently put a screwdriver or preferably, trim removal tool on the centre line at the top corner of the plastic cover behind the mirror. Left will come off then, move the mirror to the opposite side and the right cover will come off, revealing the rain/light sensor. Remove the multiplug first. There's a small plastic tab on opposing corners of the sensor - pull those open and, it will release the sensor from the windscreen mount.
