Would you buy a L405 with this service history?

This is a 2013 low mileage 4.4 V8 example. With the car deciding the service interval do you think the previous owner was ignoring the nags or doing as he was told! Total mileage is 49000 now.

Last two are indys, others are the same LRMD. All filters were replaced at the appropriate time of servicing. The service at 2016 was a double entry on the database covering 3 and 4 years interval by the look of it!

Date Mileage Service
03/01/2020 41500 miles 80000 miles / 60 months service
16/02/2019 30814 miles Renewal of Oil and Oil Filter
08/06/2018 24298 miles 64000 miles / 48 months service
01/09/2016 15660 miles 48000 miles / 36 months service
01/09/2016 15659 miles 32000 miles / 24 months service
03/09/2015 9578 miles 16000 miles / 12 months service
19/09/2013 6 miles

Condition of the car is as expected for a low miles car. No evidence of any oils changed other than the engine. What do you guys think? Buy or steer clear? Price is reasonable, 3 months Warrantywise warranty.

Everyone is different but don't think it's much to worry about, I'd buy it then change all the fluids throughout and give it a good check over.. Thumbs Up Pete

I would be more interested in the work done - there is a huge difference between a service and the "optional" work.

There are allot of cars that just have the basics done by the MD. Things like diff oils, transfer box oils, dynamic response fluids etc are all passed over as optional.

Doesn't look like a bad service history at all... Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

+1, i'd renew everything as fluids and filters are old, no matter how little miles the vehicle has done. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Thanks. I intend to do just that. I am concerned that car not serviced annually, thats all.

If you have any doubts, walk away and buy another, you shouldn't have to talk yourself into buying anything, if it will worry you in future don't buy it... Thumbs Up Pete

The owner was probably more fixated on the milage and the cost of services, not the yearly side.
We all know its what ever occurs first but maybe he/she didn't know that? Simply ask the question!

Its only averaging 7K over its lifetime the first 2 years only averaged 4.5K thats low usage. Again ask why what sort of runs etc use the fact that its not had the yearly inspections on time to downgrade the asking price.

Have you thought about looking at doing a pre-purchase inspection (£150-£200) if an AA member you get 10% discount, its certainly worth that if you are not so tech savvy, and use it to negotiate the price.

If you do go for it, the previous contributions on the fluids is very good advice. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Seems a pretty reasonable history for an 8 year old car. The mileage gaps between services are consistently small, it would be interesting to know if anything other than the the oil and filter was done, but as a matter of course and as has been said, swap all the following and you should be up to date:

Oil and filter
Front diff oil
Rear diff oil - check to see if it’s locking or not as it takes a different oil
Transfer case
Brake fluid
Also the ARC fluid reservoir would have been due for changing as well as a top up, I think this is part of the LR 80,000 mile service. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I don’t see anything unusual here. I would not have an issue with that at all.

But as mentioned before; I don’t tend care too much about it anyway. When buying a second hand car I would like to get it back to a known state and go over the top with changing all serviceable items regardless.

The MOT history is almost clean, latest MOT advisory was front pads getting thin. These will be changed before I buy.

I don't think allowing two years at low mileage before changing a modern oil is too bad, except for the dealers profit of course. I'm comfortable with that. Laughing

Does the OSH ( https://osh.landrover.com/ ) detail anything above and beyond the basic oil and filter service - if not as above if its the right car just budget to bring it up to spec.

This is what mine looks like on the OSH for 60 & 72 for example:

Latest on the Landrover site is:

Carried out by INDIE on 03/01/2020

Service Completed
80000 miles / 60 months service
Other Related Items
Renewal of Oil and Oil Filter
Renewal of Pollen Filter
Renewal of Engine Air Filter
Renewal of Fuel Filter

The dealer did say there was another service carried out in July last year. I will enquire what that was for. It isn't documented on the Landrover site.

So it looks like there hasn't been a proper 60month service, merely engine oils. Thanks for pointing this out. It's still only done 49000 miles so not really as the dealer described as full LR service history. Mmm, thinking of walking now. Mad

If the price is reasonable, then what is the issue with it? All seems fine and normal for an 8 year old low mileage car.

In my opinion if one is looking for perfection with the history then one should buy new, or pay premium. The service history seems perfectly reasonable to me, but would matter more than any service history is what the current state is of the vehicle vs the asking price.

To be honest, most of them are like this - IMO to have full LR service history the service should have been completed to spec but it seems a oil and filter service is all that’s needed to get that virtual stamp and is common practice.

Our main dealer was just going to do oil and filters for the 60 & 72 but if you look at the service sheets LR suggest more - they are in the wiki here: https://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/u...sheets.pdf

They always offer to clean my aircon though Rolling with laughter

Just budget for the items in the next service Thumbs Up Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
