Well, for any car really...

Not happy with the results from my ‘hand polishing’ last weekend during which used Meguiars compound, polish and wax (could see parallel type hand compounding motion marks/ hazing under the polish and wax finish when the sun hit the car today)... so have just ordered the below DAS Pro DA polisher and some Lake Country microfibre cutting and finishing pads, all as recommended on DW forum UK.

Already have a rotary polisher and Country Lake foam pad selection but the rotary leaves little room for error and fancied trying a DA for some time now. Delivery due on Friday 👍🏻

I was very tempted to put one of these on my Christmas list last year but as it wouldn't get used until at least around Easter decided I'd look to get one when I needed it.

I use the auto finesse dual action polisher, its is excellent value for money. I use 3m compound and polish. Green, yellow and blue top. Then gardx phase 1 and 2. Takes me a day to do the whole car. ------------------------------------------

I just use the big goofy orbital on all my cars. Pretty fool proof and I've gotten great results.

Used the DAS 6 for years with great results, been down the rabbit hole with cutting compounds too, love the menzerna stuff but the detailing kingdom from Taiwan is fantastic too. Then to decide what to seal it with.. So much choice .. TAC systems moonlight is unreal .

I buy locally from in2detailing based in Dundee, fantastic service from Imran.

I have tried out many brands and methods over the years, but I am very wary of trying out a DA. I guess I am concerned I will do some costly damage with one.

I love detailing my cars, many an hour has been lost over a weekend.

On a side note, I have often wondered if it was worth the forum creating a "Detailing Section" The large DW Forums etc are great, but can be a bit wide ranging especially when you get down as deep as paint hardness on different Marques etc. At least on this forum it would be concentrated on RR.

I've got the DAS 6 version by dodo juice. I've used it a fair amount of time on various cars. It is pretty fool proof, one has to be pretty stupid to do damage with it.

But, I also find that there is a lot more to it than having good tools. I send my wife's BMW M2 Competition to a professional details for a new car paint correction and protection job and wow. Just wow. In all my years I didn't even come close.

My L322 is now also booked in to go there on 14th April, for its paint correction and protection as they do a much better job than I ever can. Using man maths skills it is actually cheaper in my mind to do that then me buying the equipment, products and spending the time...

Anyway the DAS 6 is great and very safe to use.

I've got a corded DA but then I saw a guy using a Dewalt cordless polisher and def. want one o those now

It’s arrived. Very easy to use. Briefly tried half the bonnet with a Country Lake MF cutting pad with Meguiars compound. No dramas and you would be doing well (read, doing very badly) to damage the paint with this DA... haven’t had time to master the technique or the finish Id prefer yet and think I might need to switch from Meguiars products tbh but... the DAS Pro v2 is obviously a good quality DA polisher and it’s significantly easier to use than my rotary polisher.

I enjoy the process of detailing the car, so as much as it’s probably cheaper to pay a few hundred for paint correction. I don’t get the satisfaction of doing it myself. Sad I know

I enjoy the thought of doing it then can’t be pfaffed once started 😂 so tend to leave the car sitting idle in the garage for ever and a day picking wee bits off half an hour at a time here and there 🙄

I used my das-6 pro today, they’re pretty fool proof. Not used any others but does the job; used mine today:

Tried it again this morning on the bonnet, this time using a different technique learnt from a you tube video and also used a foam cutting pad instead of a MF cutting pad:
Set the rotor to level 1 lowest speed to spread the compound then set the rotor to speed at 4 of 6 to do the cutting. Just let the polisher slowly glide from left to right across the bonnet at about 1” per second, then buffed off excess with a MF cloth when done. The finish is superb and all the the parallel/ marring/ hazing lines I’d complained about last week are gone. Bonnet took about 30 minutes. Can’t understand why I’ve not ordered one of these long ago. Very easy and therapeutic to use. Excellent piece of kit 👍🏻
