Intermittent Parking Sensors

Hi all,

After many years of thinking about it I have finally pulled the trigger on a 2012 Range Rover Westminster spec. Having driven some of the older RR in the past, the vehicle is a joy to drive.

I do have one query about parking sensors. If i put the vehicle into reverse, the rear camera and parking sensor button both come on. The sensors both front and back work as they should. If you then continued your journey without switching the engine off, if you put the vehicle back into reverse, the camera will fire up however the parking sensor button will just flash. Even if you try to manually switch on the sensors via the button it will also just flash and go off. The only way they will work again is by switching the engine off and on again.

Could this be a faulty sensor that is doing this?

Quick way of finding out if the PDC sensors are actually firing is select reverse (With the engine off but the ignition on), then very gently touch the pad of your fingertip against each one. You should feel a very feint pulse. If you're in a very quiet area you can also put your ear against them and can hear them pulsing.
Do that with all the sensors because it only needs one to go down and it'll take the whole system down.
If all check out, then at least you can eliminate the sensors.

On the later 2010 onwards the sensors don’t make a noise just get it plugged in to see which sensor is faulty when mine went bad it was a wiring issue behind the bumper

Just a follow up on this as I managed to get a detailed diagnostic on this. It describes of an LED error? The only LED i can see on the parking sensor arrangement is on the switch itself? Could replacing the control panel possibly resolve this issue?
