After a bit of advice gents please, 2003 TD6, 120k miles. Fitted a replacement set of alloys (2nd hand, genuine LR) and new track rod ends etc and had it tracked twice (once at local tyre place, 2nd time at my usual mechanic garage), and wheels balanced etc following swerving to miss wildlife last year.

But with the steering wheel straight, it still pulls to the left slightly. Steering wheel hasnt been off, so its not that its been refitted slightly off (is that even possible?)

Any other ideas please? Tyre pressures all OK. Had a damn good look under it after the run in with a grass verge and all looked fine, just struggling to sort this slight pull out

I think you are saying it runs straight and doesn't pull if the steering wheel is not centred, if you centre the wheel it turns left..?

If that is the case then it has been tracked incorrectly, they should centre the wheel, clamp it into place and then adjust the track rod ends, at the moment the rack is not centralised....

Go back and tell them the steering wheel is not straight and get them to sort it...

And AFAIR you can't adjust the steering wheel, it only fits in one position... Pete

the steering wheel is splined Pete, as far as I can remember but even one spline off would be very noticeable. I agree with the tracking being off, It sounds like the steer ahead isnt set correctly.

As you say they should set the wheel straight then track to that. These cars can't really be tracked by a chap with a laser, they need to go on a 4 wheel alignment machine, as an adjustment to one end can throw the other out.

I saw this exact thing on my D4 when I went to have it setup last week. It started with a right rear issue, they corrected that but as they did so I watched the front toe got out, took them about 1/2 hour to get it all straight and true and showing green on all wheels. One of the things that is shown on the printout they give you is the steer ahead figure. This is the percentage/angle that the steering wheel is out when the car is tracking straight down the road.

MrBlonde, was it done on a 4 wheel machine? if not get yourself to a local fitter with one. (not a multiple, they make excuses as to why they can't adjust it all properly...) There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Booked in at my local Formula1, £89 for front and back set up

No form of alignment, either 2 or 4 wheel, will make the steering wheel straight unless it is held in the centre position when the alignment is done, don't waste any more money on taking it somewhere else, just get the place who did it to do it correctly...

NMJ, I was sure the splines had one double spline so the wheel lined up with the clock spring correctly... (or am I thinking of the Lexus...!?!?!?) Pete

Hmm.... I think I chucked my spare wheel otherwise I would go and have a look.👍🏻

Watch F1 like a hawk they can do it, and have done my 322 in the past perfectly, got my disco wrong tho. They do offer a check I think after a few weeks to see if anything moved.

There is a good argument that for totally accurate adjustment the car need putting into tight tolerance mode, but I’ve never bothered and I just find a flat piece of ground on the car park and raise it up, lower it to bottom then reset to centre. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I trust it has also had a proper 4 wheel alignment by a competent person.

If the wheek is straight and it's turning left, it says the steering wheel is off.

If the car feels like it's crabbing left then, it's wheel alignment. 4 wheel alignment is quite tricky and takes a lot of adjustment. Someone not experienced at it can get it wrong. I've had that issue on a previous car.
