I find the bluetooth call quality is extremely poor compare to my Audi A8 2004 I had before. That was near silent. This one you can hear alot of road noise.

Will a software update help this at all or is it a new module? Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys

I would doubt a s/w upgrade or module swap would help with this. It's more likely to do with the BT mic, it's location and how good the noise cancelling circuitry is.

I've come from a 5 series with BT and people have commented how much more background noise there is in the RR, despite it claiming to be a quieter car inside, so I guess it's not something that can be easily cured.

There is an upgraded mic for the phone system - I ordered one from bimmernav when i was getting some other stuff but its a standard BMW part number 84 31 6 938 762.

If you have a look at your mic and it has a green back then it is the old one - if it is all black then its the new one - the new one has much better noise cancelling capabilities. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."
