A quick question, does anyone know why the "service" option on the dash menu is blanked, i.e. Won't let me click on it? What options should I see? Late 2009 3.6TDV8. Thanks

It's because the engine is running, it tells you the oil level but you have to leave it for 20 mins after you have switched off for it to work. Switch just the ignition on to read it. It also shows the VIN IIRC.... Pete

Owners Manual also has instructions for oil level reading  Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

You don't have to wait 20 mins -

Ignition on, bonnet open.

Go to oil level through the menus.

When it says "oil level not available" double click the Cancel Cruise Control button and the oil level will be displayed.

Note that it is very sensitive to gradients so make sure the car is on a level surface and also note that to get a good reading you should wait a bit to let the oil drain back into the sump.  Bish.

There is no dipstick on the 5.0 engine... this is the only way to check it's level...  Pete

The oil level option won’t be there on the 3.6, but other options should be. As mentioned already, try it with the engine off. Might get to choose the menu then?

3.6 has proper dipstick.

My 4.4 only has a dipstick in the driving seat.
