4.4 TDV8 Re-Map

An associate of mine in the Re Map business has just completed his first 4.4 TDV8 with great success and none of the rumoured problems.

0-60 increase by 1 second to 7.5 seconds.... Very Happy

Does he still have to remove the ECU? Used to have:
2005 FFRR 4.4 Vogue - BRC LPG Conversion & Remapped

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys

Hi Gaz, how did he do it? ECU off and split or via OBD? "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Surely, the 0-60 should decrease? Thumbs Up

"Ecu has to come off...no other way.....the ecu has the 'read' funtion disabled by Bosch at the factory.

It is a 45 minute job......lid has to come off ecu.....but I have a source of new lids so no trace left of it being opened Smile "

So now we know Thumbs Up

I read that the issue with tuning via OBD was not knowing the checksum algorithm. It's not ChippedUK (sorry, Viezu) is it? Shocked

A few places are listing tunes for the 4.4 now, with widely different torque and BHP figures.

No its a small company called "DieselTune"

No issues with checksum....uses same ecu as 3.0 Disco4/RRSport 3.0/Jaguar 3.0 TDV6

0-60 is standard at 7.5 secs on the 4.4 TDV8 ? was 8.5 on the old 3.6

I have driven a remapped 4.4 TDV8 with a GPS vbox in it and recorded a time of 6.7 secs with ease off the line and a full 1.3 secs faster 30-60 than the 5.0 Petrol which is impressive to say the least, it has been mapped now since November 2010 and has had no issues.

I am still waiting for the obd port to be cracked the BMW M3 which has a similar pin system has just been cracked so the Bosch ECU on the newer Range Rovers will follow soon i hope Smile Far to many gone...

these guys now have the 4.4TDV8 on their site

http://www.chipexpress.com/products/3033/

... i have one fitted to my X5 and it was fitted, by me, in less than 10 mins as it just plugs n plays. The difference in torque on the X5 is instantly noticable and its just a whole lot better to drive. I can't say i have noticed economy improve over the 6 months or so i have had it fitted, but the car drives smoothly and i forget its even there now.

Thumbs Up

That is not a remap just a chip that fools the ecu and is generic not a tailored map to the car, been there done it never again. Far to many gone...
