right, just got the car back from Steve Norman (see dealer feedback post for T&S Norman nr Shepton Mallet)). What a great experience. first I turned up a day early (my fault) and they still got me a very nice Freelander courtesy car!! Then he fixed the car in a day! Hero!! Bow down Bow down

total bill?? £195 + vat. (the LR MD charged me that for looking at it and saying they couldn't find a fault but they could do the secondary turbo oil leak fix V2 (9 hrs @ £168/hr!!) but that might not fix it Shocked Censored

Steve did a back pressure reading on DPF and found the PSI was only 2 which means it wasn't anywhere near full!! (for info, 15PSi means it is filling up). Then he carried out a force regen. back pressure was down to 1 PSI. He then reset the differential pressure sensor and DPF adaptation values which gave a reading of 0 gms.

basically it came down to the sensor and the electronics "over-reading" the soot values. so where it was reading 22g it was in actual fact only about 2-3g but the ECU was trying to regen and stopped when the pressure went down to 1 PSI (which signalled to the ECU that regen was finished) but it was still "reading" 19g so carried on pumping fuel into the exhaust to raise temps to carry out regen. hence fuel/oil mix is now nearly 5 (time for an oil change!!)

anyhow the lesson is if you have what you are "told" or think is a full DPF, get a pressure test done first. That will give you a real sense of how full the DPF is.

Cant recommend Steve enough. Thanks to Dr Rob and gettingold for the steer Bow down

Rob, not sure. Steve put a machine on with pipes and stuff.

Maybe give him a call? I am getting my brakes done next week so could ask him and see the kit?
