Interior Trim questions

Hi all
Been inspecting the Trim on my car and want to get on top of some of the issues

1.Has anyone found an easy way to remove the grey paint on some of the interior trim pieces.

2.The same for those items covered with the rubbery coating such as the steering wheel spokes.

3. The drivers door card has indents on the top as if previous drivers had rested an elbow. I thought a little heat from an iron or steamer may be a solution.

4. My sunglass holder does not open on a push it needs help to open, is this normal? or is there a fix? Thought I would ask before I dismantle it.

If I can get the coatings off I thought maybe they will polish up to nearly match the piano black trim that I have. Has any one tried this?
If not then I will either spray them or maybe vinyl wrap them.

Thanks very much

Hi David,

1. Has anyone found an easy way to remove the grey paint on some of the interior trim pieces.

That's the so called "foundry" finish. There's not much you can do. It comes off how and where it wants to come off and not they way you'd like.
There are various covers available from different sources, powerfuluk being one of them.

2.The same for those items covered with the rubbery coating such as the steering wheel spokes.

Not much you can do about these either, other than covering them per above.

3. The drivers door card has indents on the top as if previous drivers had rested an elbow. I thought a little heat from an iron or steamer may be a solution.

Most all early l322 suffer this either at the top or at the inner handle. If it was on the handle, a good upholstery workshop could fix it. At the top of the card I'm afraid a new card will be needed or, both sides done at a reputable store.

4. My sunglass holder does not open on a push it needs help to open, is this normal? or is there a fix? Thought I would ask before I dismantle it.

You're better off replacing the whole thing. They abound in salvage yards and eBay

Finally, vinyl wrap is in my opinion the best and cheapest way to refresh the tatty bits.
