Good morning gents,

I have an issue with my 2007 L332 6 pack CD player in the glove box. It will play for a bit, but then sticks. This is a relatively new phenomenon so I'm assuming the CD player is kaput?

I have found a place that will supply a reconditioned one which is fine. I just wanted to ask how easy is it to remove the current one so I can replace it?

I am not the best on the mechanical (or in this case electrical) side of vehicle repair, so I don't really want to start trying to remove it only to find that I have to strip out the dash or something!?!?

And in a similar vein, I need to replace the head rest entertainment DVD player in the boot. Is that also going to be a simple task, or am I better off getting it done by an auto electrician?

You do have to remove quite a lot...

Is it much different for the 2010-12s? Is everything just reversed on lefthanded drive vehicles??

Jeez, I’m far to heavy handed to get that lot done. My hands are too big to start getting em squashed into finicky corners. Looks like I’ll have to pay someone to do it for me.

OP, It is on my to-do list and has been for months. I am quite hesitant to get started. However, I do think that it will not be that bad once started. danielb on here repairs them, but I think you may have to remove the unit yourself and post or drop it off to him in Herts. It is £85 repair with warranty last I knew.

Or, try cleaning it. I tried a cleaner disc on mine, which was a pointless exercise, and getting into the unit whilst in situ to try and clean the laser is not easy. I'm going to get mine out, give it a clean, test, and then repair/replace if needed.

I recently had to do a repair to my external door handle and cable, and I dont think this is going to be any worse than that.

Thanks for the pep talk, but I will just end up breaking something and then I’ll just get angry and break something else. I’m best off avoiding the potential pitfalls and paying someone to do it for me. Maybe I shouldn’t have bought a motor I had no chance whatsoever of being able to do those “little repairs” to myself.

It sometimes feels that breaking things is a legitimate form of dismantling. To be honest, I think you might have the best approach - pay someone. Hope you get it sorted.
