The transfer case doesn’t look too drastic. I would check around the output shaft seal, the solenoid and the high low position sensor, these are the only open points apart from the filler and drain. If they all look Ok then it could be the mastic seal which joins the 2 halves. But that’s more trouble than it’s worth as the case has to come out and unless it’s really peeing out then I wouldn’t worry.

My trans case on my 07 3.6 was leaking for ages, LR re sealed it, still leaking, I eventually tracked it down to a fouled O ring on the high low sensor, cheap and easy fix in the end..... and doable on the drive in 5 mins.... so worth checking. It’s about the only thing high up on the case so if it looks like it’s running down then start there.

The rest look like they start high up so look from the top with the covers off. Could be rocker gaskets. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Great info thanks
Does the leak cause too much fluid loss?
Is o ring easy to find? 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.

No not much, the case was damp but no drips. The o ring is on the High low position sensor which is a small black unit secured to the case with some wires into it. This is the sensor you can see the damage to the o ring.

Whole new sensor wasn’t too much money, and doesn’t need coding. You could try replacing just the seal if that is where it is coming from. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
