Recently I noticed a knocking noise under acceleration from a standstill or low speed. It is like three or four dull knocks which sound like they are coming from the rear but they then cease as the car gets faster and I don't hear or feel them when accelerating at higher speeds. Nor do I hear them when cornering.

Any ideas what this could be?

Well, the dealer called today. They say the bearings are OK but the bushes attaching the rear subframe to the car are shot and need to be replaced. I'll ask for a copy of the quote to see what work they are proposing. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

I have the exact same symptoms, brief metallic knocking noise under hard acceleration from standstill or low speed. Thought it might be a loose heatshield catching something or possibly propshaft centre bearing, but now it could also be rear subframe bushes. Will have to get it into my indy for a look-see.
