Rear disks change

How easy are the rear disks to change? 2016 4.4
The lockdown and lack of use have corroded the rears for some reason

I have changed my Defender disks on a few occasions and wondered if its the same type with bearings to contend with? 2010 defender utility

Unlike on the Defender, the brake disk is sandwiched between the wheel and the hub so no need to remove the hub when replacing the disk. Simple job as long as nothing is seized, the workshop manual is in the wiki.
Before attempting to unscrew the torx bolt that holds the disk to the hub, insert the driver into the head and give it a couple of sharp hits with a hammer, this should help loosen it and make it easier to remove. I found out the hard way when I replaced my brake disks...

Easy job to do , just check your trolly jack is capable of lifting your car and you can protect your jacking points with the rubber inserts or jack it up under the wishbones , the only other "got you" is you need a multi point or external torx to remove the calliper bracket to hub bolt and its torqued up very very tight !

You'll also need to put the parking brake into service mode. Full details in the owners manual (see wiki) but essentially:

- Turn the ignition ON (not the engine) by pushing the start/stop button without stepping on the brake pedal
- Push the e-brake button down for 2 seconds and hold it (release the e-brake)
- Push the accelerator pedal down for 2 seconds and hold it
- Push the start/stop button twice (turn the ignition off and on)
Now the e-brake service mode is active.. you will hear a noise from the rear e-motors, when its releasing the e-brake to the service mode. Still hold the e-brake button and the accelerator pedal.
After the e-motors stops there will be info on the dash that the e-brake service mode is activated.

To deactivate the service mode is the same procedure, the only change is that you have to pull the e-brake button.
