Back home, three hours of my life and £150 and a very tidy OE looking side step fitted. I will put some pics up tomorrow. One difference is that the bottom section of the step is not brunel (ish) grey. So I will just paint the old one to match. Side step gave me a can of paint for this. Nice people to deal with.

Apparently the left side fails first, due to all the water from the gutter side of UK roads. Also the box section that LR used to construct the frame just holds water. The one made by "Side Steps UK" does not have this issue and they claimed it would outlast the car. Ha! I said "You have no idea what we FFRR owners are like, I'll be doing everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen."

The frame that they attach to is different to the OE, and comes in 5 sections, but I am not going to be concerned about that.

It is amazing how much love these cars get from people that know them, all the folks I spoke to today were determined not to sell theirs.

They look tidy, and slot into the OE mud flap by the looks of it.

Drivers side fail first on mine. Passenger side doesn't have 20 stone hopping on it... 🤣

Yep, took less than 30 mins for the guys to fit it and it was just a case of unbolt the old and bolt in the new, and yes, it fits nicely into existing OE mudflaps. Perhaps not quite as neat as genuine, but alleged to last longer. Not quite as stiff at the very rear. But I am not going to worry too much about the negatives.

Sounds like yours are getting a good work out Wink
