I went from a Disco 2 TD5 to a 2012 MY L322 4.4 TDV8 two years ago and don't regret it.
Mine has 75k on clock and I suspect you will struggle to find a rarely low mileage one at a reasonable price.
Most things are easily fixable if you are handy with a spanner, I have changed all fluids and replaced starter motor.
If you get one wax oil sills and rear wheel arches where they meet rear doors from inside boot.
Mine hasn't had turbo mod and never seen any smoke out of back but would recommend booting every so often just for the fun of it !
The only shocking thing is the road tax!

Thank you for some great advice, I won’t mention the sport word anymore through fear of repercussions I am looking at a couple of RR 4.4 TDV8’s with 40 and 50k on the clock, let’s see what happens

If you go n buy a sport all your doing is admitting that your life didn't quite work out how you planned it too.

Have been looking for a nice L332 with low mileage, I have missed a couple and to my horror prices seem to be on the rise. So what’s the feeling of buying a higher mileage L405? What do you think about a L405 4.4 with 90k or a late L322 4.4?

I think a 405 is well worth considering. I’ve been thinking either late 322 or early 405 to eventually replace my trusty TD6 322.

Low mileage 322’s certainly seem to be at premium asking price these days.

Advantages to me would be aluminium construction on the 405 avoiding the dreaded 322 corrosion issues. Subframes etc still need protection. A 405 may empty your wallet quicker than a 322 with more complexity although there are plenty of people who haven’t had massively adverse issues.

If opting for a 405 you’re then into the V6 v V8 question. Too many cases of V6 cranks snapping for my liking (online reports and people I know personally and in the trade who this has happened to). However again there will be many who can report no issues on a V6 and the issue may be hyped up on the internet, all cars have certain issues etc!

Used car prices in general seem to have hardened so perhaps immediately right now is not the best time to buy, especially with restrictions on proper viewings etc. Worth keeping your eyes peeled for examples coming on the market though.....

As with any Range Rover, a healthy reserve of funds to deal with repairs and maintenance always essential Thumbs Up

Good luck with your search. Current

Thanks for that
Complexity does concern me, I am confident I could sort out a lot of L322 stuff but L405 uncharted ground. My budget would be 2013-14 at a push and I agree about a back up fund as they can go wrong overnight.
I will investigate
Many thanks

Buy a sport and you may regret it.
My very active pensioner neighbour, a lovely lady once commented about my fatty which she can see as I turn a corner near my house - quote 'When you come round that corner your car looks like the Queen Mary gliding past, it looks so stately. ( Mind you, I didn't think they look that big Shocked )

Quote 2 from the Lady was ' No wonder it looks good, you are always working on it' I did not have the heart to tell her the truth, £££££££ on bits Big Cry

Down side is when the neighbours have a laugh at me lying underneath the car, talking to it and threatening to use a lump hammer on it - Loud enough for them to think I have an invisible friend.

My 28 year old daughter who drives a cracking insignia told me that all the sport drivers she see's tend to have shaved heads, tee shirts and loads of tattoos, Hhhmmmmmm Not the look you want Sir?

I have a sneaky feeling there may be some incoming flak headed my way after the last comment Rolling with laughter

Don’t worry I only consider a sport for a couple of minutes then I came to my senses.
The only other comment I have is some of us can’t help our hair styles, after being a dad to one son and two pain in the arse daughters what do you expect.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
