North West indie LR repair

Have used KMotors near Preston a few times over the years and they provided good service at a reasonable cost. 3 years since I last used them but having tried to contact them over the last month, its been answer machine and non returned calls. Sad when a company goes off the rails like this. Are they still operating ? Looking for some where else now if you have any recomendations for the north west.

Thats interesting. I described my problem on their answer machine and eventually 3 weeks later after not hearing back, to a girl who answered the phone. Wonder if they are cherry picking and avoiding the more irksome jobs ?

I used Henshall engineering in Chelford near Knustford for a service on my TDV8. James is very friendly, workshop is clean and tidy and he’s not a rip off merchant. As it was the first time I’d taken the car there, it gets a mini MOT so to speak and he points out stuff that needs attention along with guidance on when it needs attention and he sends pics of what he’s spotted.
He also does the hunter 4 wheel alignment and even though he couldn’t complete mine due to seized bolts (new ones ordered so old can be cut off), he managed to get the front aligned a lot better than it was.
Highly recommended. 2002 L322 4.4V8 - G4 Challenge Car - Australia leg

I’ve used K-Motors recently with no problems. In fact they were very helpful, sorted me out with an MOT - they don’t do them anymore. Geoff

I have used k motors a few times last time my wife picked the car up and they gave her a list of things that needed doing ( brake pipes corroded ) they had been done 5 weeks before and egr’s need replacement ASAP ( very odd as blanked and mapped out ) went in following day and asked them to show me the corroded brake pipes but they couldn’t

Dad has used them a couple of times, generally hit and miss and move the goal posts as and when required. The last time it needed a height sensor, I told them exactly what was wrong with it but they were not inclined to listen. Particularly frustratingly they were unable to fix it when they had finished diagnosing it, so not only did it have to be collected and returned to actually be fixed they insisted on charging double as it was in the workshop twice, which I very disappointed with.

On other occasions they had been OK, although promising a vehicle to be ready by a certain time only for it to be several more hours. I wouldn't go back. 2005 E60 M5

Wouldn't touch K motors with a barge pole.

Few years back my mate had an issue, took his RR there. about 6 weeks later and many many £ lighter got fed up, got it recovered to Independent LR in Preston.
1 day later all fixed and also the mess they had left it in for, I think £300. Including an ABS sensor that was need.

Hi,
I’m new on here & looking for a good indie LR service centre northwest area.
Could you tell me who the dealer in Preston was?

Many thanks

Returning to my problem, thought I'd take on your suggestion...oppps. Independent Landrover Centre was the trading name of LR Servicing Ltd. This company went into voluntary liquidation in July 2018 with debts of £54,000, including £33,000 VAT.
LR Servicing is no longer trading.
