That’s not ideal.

I still recon you should have a button or sequence on the smart key that disables the car..... locks them in.... calls plod...

Or just goes flat out with brakes deactivated.... not sure....

Why let down by auto trader? Surely he has taken a copy of the driving license, a recent utility bill, and evidence of insurance for the test pilot?

I do that for every car I’ve sold privately, and take a photo of them as well. Not nice for anyone when this happens but should take some responsibility. And ahem, why get in a car with a stranger during lock down Wink

Why not do it same way as bikes.

Bank transfer of full funds first before test drive

Or driving license
Passport
Bank statement or council tax bill

I think he’s blaming Autotrader because the seller/thief contacted him via them. Clearly this guys has no concept of due diligence and is now trying to blame someone else for his own stupidity, assuming it’s a true story. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

If he's been shoved out of the car by the thief then that's assault so I wouldn't expect insurance to be an issue. It's no different if he had been mugged in a car park and his key taken off him.

If he's lucky he also has gap insurance Thumbs Up 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

if he has been shoved out of the car before or during the process of the theft and in order to action the theft, that becomes robbery, not theft, a more serious offence. Insurance companies sometimes have clauses in that don't cover theft by prospective purchasers. Be careful out there! First time FFRR owner
