oh far too techy for me that lot! You will get some of the regulars coming along in the next few days who can answer most of that lot - I buy new or ex demo cars / late plate so I tend not to be so worried about these things as I still have warranty left to get them fixed, or the car isn't old enough for them to fail (hopefully!) 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

The gearboxes are sealed for life - according to Land Rover. Which in the real world means change the fuild and filter every 60k miles as they usually go pop between 80k and 100k miles... |

As far as I'm aware the gearbox is the same as in the 5series. The box is "sealed" for life thus having the problems and failures in later life. Nothing can run in it's own |

IIRC the "sealed for life"is now generally taken as sealed for the length of the factory warranty! If you look in the technical section somebody has just posted about changing their gearbox transmission fluid and filter 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

Yer what Tim has said is true. Dan will pop along soon to let you know when GM recomend changing he oil in the box. They have reduced the service times recently I think. Unfortunatly you will drop into these areas if your looking at a 2004/05 car. |

Thanks for the advice, this is basically the same issues I'm having with my 5 atm. It's got over 100k on the auto box hence awaiting the hefty bill anytime I hear a squeak. |

it would be well worth buying a facelift as it has a more powerful v8 and a new 6 speed box |
