AU Warranty v Dealer approved warranty

Hi. I'm looking at a car that only seems to be offering a LR "dealer" approved warranty rather than AU Warranty. Looking through the differences the main ones flagged on the website seem to be that the dealer warranty says there a 90 multi-item point check as opposed to the 165 checks for AU. Also the AU has an MOT guarantee up to £750. Everything else seems broadly the same - but I haven't seen the full details!

Obviously the dealer warranty makes the car a bit cheaper and the car has got full main dealer service history.

So, am I right to be relatively relaxed about it not have the full AU warranty?

From cars I have looked at in the past, dealer warranties at MDs were offered on good cars which were too old to meet AU criteria. Might be over 5 years old for example or have too many miles, but a car the dealer knows well, having sold it new and done all the services. You really need to ask the dealer - I’m assuming the dealer is a LRMD?

Thanks Andy. Yes this has just had its 60 month service at the same main dealer, mileage a little on the high side though.

Find out who the warranty is through.

Is it a car care plan or someone else.

Land rovers approved warranty is AFAIK Car care plan warranty just re branded. There are several warranty companies out there who offer dealer warranties which aren’t that great. Also which engine is it?

Also why is it not offered with the select warranty if it’s older and higher mileage? LR AUC warranty is available upto 10 years and 100,000 miles. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just an update; in the end they said the car was eligible for a AUW, so good news. They did say I could extend the warranty to just a dealer approved one for another year for an extra £650. Apparently it’s the same coverage as the AUW but that the invoice will be paid by the dealership (if I get work done at another approved Land Rover garage). Seemed like a good deal. L405 4.4 AB Loire Blue
