United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Bonatti Grey
2003 V8 Water Heater Control Solenoid

Hi all

Maybe one for the wiki for the forum but I've changed the water heater solenoid

Skillset = Easy

Tools required

Ratchet
10mm socket
6mm socket
6mm spanner
5mm hex key
Coolant top up or replace if its due

1. Lower vehicle to access level.
2. Remove engine cover with 5mm hex key.

3. Remove near side engine bay cover by popping of small squares. 10mm socket to undo 2 bolts and remove cover. Don't loose the sleeves the bolts sit in.
Now you should have something looking like this at least on a early l322 petrol v8 range rover

4. Now you'll have better access to the part in question. Easiest way to undo the jubilee clips I found was get a small 6mm spanner and crack the jubilee clips off so you can turn the clip to a certain position so you can unscrew them easier. Once unscrewed pop the pipes off and don't loose the jubilee clips. There's 3 of them and pretty easy too undo once loose. Unit just pulls out of its sitting in position. Now it should look like something like this.

Once loose, swap the unit, put the pipes back on, tighten the jubilee clips. Push the unit back into the rubber grommets that hold it in position. Once this is all done replace the engine case covers and then refill with coolant and see if this resolves the issue.

Took me 30 mins too start to finish.
