LV Informed me they no longer cover Range Rovers???!!!!

Anyone else get the email this morning?

Email as such-

Thank you for choosing to insure your LANDROVER RANGE ROVER VOGUE SE TDV6 (258) AUTO with LV= over the past year.

We’re writing to you to let you know that, unfortunately, we’ve had to make some changes to our underwriting approach for your vehicle type.

Over the past few years, there’s been a rise in thefts of the LANDROVER RANGE ROVER VOGUE SE TDV6 (258) AUTO, which you may have read about in the press. As a result, we’ve seen a large increase in the number and cost of claims we’ve received for these types of vehicles and have made the difficult decision to stop insuring them.

This means at your next renewal date on 14 April 2021, we won’t be able to offer you a renewal price. We will send a letter confirming this again in advance of your renewal date, the letter will explain that this is due to a change in our underwriting criteria. Please rest assured this won’t be classed as your insurance being declined, so you won’t need to declare it to other insurers.

We never want to leave our customers in the difficult situation of having to find cover. However, we feel that continuing to cover certain vehicles would create a greater overall detriment to our customers by increasing pricing overall.

Your insurance will remain in place until your renewal date. We wanted to write to you in advance of your renewal date to give you plenty of time to get quotes from other insurance companies and to arrange suitable cover elsewhere. If you wish to cancel your cover in advance of your renewal date, please give us a call and we’ll waive all cancellation fees.

We appreciate you may wish to call us to discuss this now, however we won’t be able to discuss the contents of this letter until you’ve received the confirmation letter we send in place of your renewal documents. This letter will be sent approximately 3 weeks before your renewal date when our systems have been updated and will include your proof of no claim discount.

If you do have questions, we’ve created a webpage with more information at https://www.lv.com/gi/faq.

Yours sincerely,

Heather Smith

Funny that.
Not your predicament CUE99T......

Just the fact that I have found myself a nice specced rangerover sport 4.4 for sale. Just yesterday phoned my insurance broker for quote to insure it. Gave all details, after about an hour or so they rang me back. Only to be told cannot get me insurance as Too risky a car for thefts!
Maybe the end of my search!!! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Oh and by the way..... I am NOT with LV.......

Try the usual "compare" websites, it's not universal across them all. You might find your broker has a small subset of companies that they use. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

LV renewed me automatically this year.

That's odd! I was with them last year as they were by far the cheapest and I have been automatically renewed this year for just a fiver more so I couldn't be bothered to hunt around.

They were only £246 (last year £241) fully comp (2011 TDV8, 58 yr old, 14 years no claim, South Gloucestershire area.)

Maybe it's only L405's they are shying away from as they are the "latest" shape.

L322's are at least 9 years old so unlikely to be nicked by professional gangs.

Renewed my insurance last August and never had any trouble getting several quotes for the Westie.

Definitely start with the comparison sites just to get a feel for who might be worth talking to. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey
2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography (2021-2024) - Santorini Black
2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster (2016-2021) - Santorini Black

Probably just the L405s. Just renewed my 2012 MY 4.4 TDV8 - last year was with Sabre - my broker, used since 1996, set up a new fully comprehensive policy for me with LV for the next 12 months WEF 21/02/2021. LV were the cheapest based upon 11 years no claims bonus.

As a matter of interest I did contact A-Plan as they are a site sponsor - received a call from them - they took all of my details as said they would call back with a quote - they never did call back. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Current

I was with LV last year and they were prepared to cover me again at renewal in December.

As is the way these days I searched the market and the AA insured me for £300 less than LV were quoting. I received 3 quotes that were even cheaper than the AA but had high excess charges, so thought the AA represented the best value overall.

That was on a MY15 5.0 Supercharged.

I actually didnt see the other thread about this tbh. Guess it's their loss!! Just about to put all 3 cars via the policy as planned to get another 911 or something to remove the boredom of lockdown!!

I'll just use compare dot com as advised.... tbh I use confused usually but I just don't know where they get the data from as I dont think it's the stealability, I think it's probably more down to the cost of parts!! all smug in my new plug!

Churchill's quote was the easily the cheapest for me - around 30% less than the next cheapest.
