Can radar cruise be switched off?

Hi all. During the recent snow, my radar cruise keeps presumably getting blocked and I get the message "forward alert not available".

I remember reading on here before I bought the car that someone said the radar cruise was switchable and you could turn it off, I remember the poster saying it was one of the few cars you can turn it off on which impressed me.

So my car is a 2009 with the digital dash facelift, and I can't work out how to turn it off. Can anyone help? Once the world gets back to normal I really want to do a Scandinavian roadtrip in winter and don't want to do it without cruise control.

I also can't actually work out where the sensor is, it doesn't seem obvious like on most cars.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You can turn the forward alert off from the dash using the steering wheel controls, should be able to find the exact sequence in the owners manual, however, I dont think that this turns off the radar when using cruise control. A more knowledgable forum member may be able to clarify this. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ah yes, I have that turned off, so it doesn't jab the brakes if someone turns off for a side rod, miles in front of me. But I still have radar cruise.

Thanks

Doesn't make a difference unfortunately.

Oddly I can't figure out where the sensor is, it doesn't seem obvious. Usually it's a giant thing on the front but I can't figure it out.

I don't think the forward alert brakes if the cruise is switched off. I think it's just an alarm. ( it is on my 2011 VSE)

Radar cruise does nothing until activated. Radar is rhs in bumper gap, it isn't domed like other cars so it's easy to miss.

All you need to know is on this thread:

You should be able to edit the ccf files to disable, i would just ignore the warning tbh..
