Which Engine Oil

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice please. Is Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A5 the correct oil for my RR.
2010 3.6 TDV8. I'm getting conflicting information from Euro CP and Halfords web sites.
Any help welcome.

Tom

It depends if you have a dpf. I use that oil in mine with no issues, mine is older but same engine. Jon

Which engine oil

Hi Gunni
A diesel will have a PDF filter if a UK car and the spec can be found in the manual. This is listed as SAE5W-30 AND WSS-M2C934-B. CASTROL SLX PRO POWERFLOW "C1 5W-30". There is a really good write up on here covering the oil change and some options such as Shell Oils and filters etc. Afraid that these oil references altered a bit over time but "C1" is a clue. The oil needs to be low ash re the health of the PDF

The 3.6 is highly unlikely to have a DPF. Careful.
Use Opie Oils website as a site sponsor. Enter code "FULLFATCHAT" for some discount.

Did you mean a DPF?

The 3.6 in the UK spec didn't get a DPF sir... Standard fit came along with the 4.4 TDV8 and yes that is 100% CRITICAL you use the correct oil in the 4.4 TDV8 Thumbs Up

My mistake as I was thinking of the 4.4v8td engine. Surprised that the 3.6 wasn't fitted with a dpf. Well spotted by the others: must get out more!

Many thanks for the information, so in a nut shell my 3.6 has no DPF, should i use C1 type just in case or not really needed.

Thanks again.

Throw your rego into the Opie Oils website and it will do the rest....
Owners Manual should have the oil spec to cross reference to Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

The 3.6 in certain market places was fitted with a DPF I believe... California springs to mind 👍

My 3.6 doesn't have DPF . I went on the Opie website which confirmed the vehicle details of my car and recommended C1 which I am using. I went for the Millers 30W5. Am perfectly happy with it if that helps you. John
