Any one else had a door freeze?
my drivers door opened today -6 was the temp but then i could not close it the door simply would not latch. checked the latch it moved ok so i held the door shut and locked the car the door locked but now will not open from inside or out!!
I think the links have frozen, i climbed in through the passenger seat and the internal door handle now feels like it is trying to move to open (As opposed to just moving with no friction).

I will wait to see what happens as the temp gets above freezing today to see if it goes back to normal.

Any advise to prevent this in the future would be gratefully received. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

Common issue, various threads on the forum, however for me a kettle of 'not quite boiling' water frees it up

Spray graphite helps, sprayed into mechanism at service point... Gummi Pflege or simple vasalene on the door rubbers helps them not stick shut...

I left SWMBO’d a note on the kettle late last night reminding her “frozen door handles” for this morning’s school run... Before my 12yr old rips the rear door handle off her Disco!!!

there has been a lot of moisture in the air so many have had the frozen door problem and its not just FF's suffering...

as said by Rosco, warm water round the door frame helps free them.. ... - .- -.

Had the same issue two weeks ago mine freed after having the heater in for ten minutes. The drivers window was also stuck wouldn’t move even with a hand on either side of glass. A night in the garage cured that in lieu of hotter weather 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

my window always stuggles with sub zero temps
i have added silicone to the door rubbers.

i think my issues are the cables that operate the mechanism are maybe warn and stretched a bit and have then frozen. so neither handle operates the mechanism. same thing happens on my mountain bike gears in the winter. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

LOL I had the same thing this morning. A right pain in the backside. Was able to open first thing but then not close. Once I was able to close I couldn’t open it again grrrr

Never had this on any other car. But thanks for the tips. Will prepare it for tomorrow morning 🤣

Same as me this morning. Kettle 3/4 the way to boiling, pour it over the metal key if your on the older key ignition range, pop that into the key lock and leave it for 30 seconds, open door, pull door n push door button down. Should do the job well did frr me

Just had a can of WD40 Silicone Lubricant delivered, sprayed locks and door rubbers for preventative maintenance as have been victim to this very same thing in the past. 09 RR Westminster 3.6TDV8 - Stornoway Grey / Black interior - now gone (sad face)

Sheesh! How technology has moved backwards!

My 1992 RRC had heated door locks - you just held the handle out (remember the old Morris Marina parts bin ones!) and the lock defrosted! Was fantastic in the middle of Canadian Winters. Bish.

Yup,
Went out this morning to the fatty everything frozen solid, operated the central locking,all the buttons popped up, went
to open the drivers door, it opened about 15mm then "clonk" no more movement.
Poured almost boiling water on lock and handle, still no movement, pushed it shut and locked it.
2pm went out and tried it again "success". What a c***p design weakness
Its weird, even though it can be a pain in the a**** at times still think they are the greatest .

Although I had the locks and latches sprayed with WD40 regularly, I neglected to silicone spray the door seals (I use Würth). So at -5 C they froze and doors wouldn't open.
I've NEVER sprayed the Freelander but it has never given me any trouble in a freezing morning...go figure

My door latch regularly freezes overnight - I can open the door but it will just bounce open when I try to shut it. take the door latch mechanism out and pack it full of grease...this will stop it freezing up.. ... - .- -.
