Ah well that time of year again, Got my renewal in from More Than, they are looking for £602.58p, browsed through some other companies, and E-Car insurance came back with £288.47p with all the same requirements as More Than, --- Courtesy Car , Windscreen , Legal Protection , etc. etc. etc.

I used Go Compare and also got a half price quote from Bell Insurance. I now pay less than my Dad!

I'd been insured with More Than for 5 years on my previous cars as they'd been cheapest. Went to insure new car and they wanted silly money (£1300). I shopped around and got the same cover for a 1/4 of that price. When I phoned More Than back to challenge their price, all they could say was that if I went elsewhere I'd lose the No claims protection for life! "So what" I thought and went elsewhere.

Never had a "full" pass on an MoT when I took my cars to a garage. They always found something that would cost more, like the old scam about headlight adjustment being out (had this about 4 years running on the same car). usually things you can't readily check at home are picked up and they charge £7-8 to "sort it". Not a lot of money, but I hate being scammed. This just seemed to be a feature of MoT's wherever I went.

Might be worth getting 6 months tax this time to stagger it all by 6 months next time.

NFU membership isn't that much from memory, but didn't you need to prove that you had some connection (however tenuous) with the countryside and/or agriculture to meet the membership requirements?
