Hello, I've been reading about the td6 EGR situation as I'm sure that mine needs replacing or removing as my temp gage never seems to go above a quarter. From what I've gathered this is probably the EGR thermostat that is sticking open right?

I've already picked up a new thermostat and waterpump but I'm not 100% sure what extra parts I need to delete the EGR besides the 2 parts mentioned below?

The bungs are needed to block of the coolant lines going to the 'grey box' that you can see in front of the waterpump? It sounds very obvious but I'm coming from working on 300tdi's!

Cheers

If the temp gauge will not go out of blue zone, you need new gearbox cooler. Get Hella/Behr. Thermostat inside is stuck open. I assume that main thermostat is checked/changed.

Never heard of that one, Most likely the EGR thermostat then 2nd likely the engine thermostat. Easy enough to take off the EGR thermostat and see if it's stuck open. 2007 TDV8 VSE

With mine it was the EGR thermostat, if I remember correctly.

Strangely enough yesterday while I was driving around some small roads with steep inclines the temp gage actually went up to the middle and stayed there until I was back on the normal roads, this is the first time that that has happened since I purchased the vehicle!

Will look into the EGR delete kit and if that does't solve it guess it will be the transmission cooler

Cheers!

If the outside temp will not go under +10, you will not have this problem present. Only the coolant temp rises slower than it should.
Easy to find threads about faulty thermostats etc and keep on spending time and cash.
Common problem in bmw cars of this time.
