Hello, I've been reading about the td6 EGR situation as I'm sure that mine needs replacing or removing as my temp gage never seems to go above a quarter. From what I've gathered this is probably the EGR thermostat that is sticking open right?

Never heard of that one, Most likely the EGR thermostat then 2nd likely the engine thermostat. Easy enough to take off the EGR thermostat and see if it's stuck open. 2007 TDV8 VSE 2003 TD6 gone. 2002 P38a gone 1999 P38a gone 1997 p38a gone 1993 VSE gone 1992 VSE gone 1966 Series 2a with V8 conversion gone |

With mine it was the EGR thermostat, if I remember correctly. |

Strangely enough yesterday while I was driving around some small roads with steep inclines the temp gage actually went up to the middle and stayed there until I was back on the normal roads, this is the first time that that has happened since I purchased the vehicle!

If the outside temp will not go under +10, you will not have this problem present. Only the coolant temp rises slower than it should. Easy to find threads about faulty thermostats etc and keep on spending time and cash. Common problem in bmw cars of this time. |
