You might be better off with a proper penetrating fluid, WD40 is OK but it was never designed as a penetrating fluid as such. I'd agree not to go to far with trying to get the nut undone, especially as the locking tools tend not to be the strongest. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |

Hot air gun or even hair dyer might work without damaging paint. |

Take it down your local tyre shop, they get this all the time and are "usually" very good at getting them off...

Do yourself a favour and throw the lockers in the bin sir... Buy 4 standard nuts and away you go |

Agree with Craig; any thief will laugh at those locking wheel nuts....usually the only person they delay/prevent removing the wheel, is the owner

After a tragic experience with a Volvo XC60 locker, I always replace them with plain nuts... Fun fact: Range Rover ones cost more than twice than Jaguar's! |

Yep, having owned a D3 Disco where the locking wheel nut broke and just kept spinning when I was doing a wheel swap I am firmly in the “get rid of them” camp.

^^^ This. There are many examples of the LR OEM lockers failing, resulting in a nightmare to remove and potentially damage to the wheel. Not what you want when you're at the side of the road with a flat. As per Jim's post above, one of the first jobs I also did on my L405 when I bought it was to remove the lockers and replace all the nuts as some were swollen. Also did the same on my old L320. In my case the problem was not the locker it was that some had well over tightened them not just the locker all of them on that wheel. In all my working on cars i have NEVER come across a wheel nut a 5ft bar would not free off it was insane.

If you have this problem again try slightly tightening the other four wheel nuts to release some pressure on the tight one.

Great advice, they’re a pain in the bum and get stuck when you least expect them to. |
