Looking for an L322

What’s worse, giving birth or a kick in the privates?
A kick in the privates.
You don’t think after two years pass, “I’d love to get kicked in privates again”

So Range Rover ownership, to me, is like having a child.

I’ve spent the last year convincing myself that another Range Rover is sensible and the last month actually looking for one.

I currently own a 93 Vogue SE that has been without an engine for the last year which is great as it was a money pit when it had one!

The Classic had a top hat lined rebuilt engine fitted that only lasted 2,000 miles before seizing, yet here I am back for more.

I was going to get the Classic going again but I want something with isofix, that gets mpg in double figures and that I trust for long road trips to the south of France etc. Which is how I convinced myself that I need an L322.

I joined here when I started thinking about what I wanted; a £4K V8 petrol would scratch the itch, then I decided a £7k TDV8 made more sense but that had me up in the middle of the night worrying about turbos, so a 4.2 SC but then we’re back to terrible fuel economy. So I think I’ve settled on a 4.4 TDV8 though I may still go 4.2 supercharged as my budget only really stretches to around £11k and I want a good one to keep for as long as I can.

I live in Perthshire and there is very little choice up here. I’ve had an Inspection done on a car that turned out to be a basket case. I’ve spoken with dealers, I’ve left many messages that aren’t responded to but I’ll get there. I’m not sure my budget stretches far enough but I can’t see many people buying cars in the next few months so who knows...

If anyone has a well looked after example fifth FSH, low owners, ideally with a dark exterior and light interior get in touch. I think I want an SE though I don’t want tints or sidesteps and I don’t really fancy rear entertainment.

Anyway if you’ve got this far we’ll done! I’ll update this when I buy one or if anything interesting happens.

I took the plunge!

I’m now the proud owner of a 2011 TDV8 Vogue, in green with tan leather.

What a machine!

Nice one.
My advice is always: find a trusty local specialist before buying an L322, ideally buy it from them or get them to inspect and service it when you buy it. That's a great way to get peace of mind. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I had been looking all over the U.K. for a while but the current lockdown means no way for me to see it in person. I had found one that looked like it was worth an inspection but in a colour scheme I didn’t love.

I ended up emailing a local business and asked if one of their employees would be interested in selling the green Range Rover that parks there every day. Turns out he did.

I had a car inspected at a dealer and it was a basket case so decided I’d rather meet the owner and get a measure of them.I had the car inspected by a mechanic that I trust and I saved about £3k by going private which can go towards upkeep.

It’s early days and it won’t all be plain sailing but so far so good.

Really nice colour. Some more pics where you can really see it would be nice.
