I've spent days searching now for a VSE 4.4 tdv8, or Westy or maybe an Autobiography if it is tasteful.

FSH. Less than 80k miles. Ideally not black interior and not a black exterior.

When I bought my 3.6 tdv8 VSE I got full LR/indy SH, 1 owner (ahem turned out to be 2), 70k miles. Every option I wanted and more and I found it quickly and easily within 50 miles of home.

Now I want a 4.4 equivalent I have pretty much scoured the entirety of ad sites and not found a single one that ticks all boxes.

Wow. I had no idea it would be so difficult. Interesting though and it makes me wonder about how many are actually out there.

I’ve had the same experience in a way, was searching for a 5.0 SC L405 but very few coming to market and none I was interested in, have thrown in the towel & just bought a 2011 TDV8 SE to tide me over, black with black...

I think people are hunkering down right now, so the usual good supply of used RR’s is far more limited than usual.

you are probably right about the lockdown reducing the amount of cars coming to market.

I am thinking of just paying for the latest repairs on my tdv8 and throwing the 4.4 tdv8 towel in for now. It might not be such a bad thing - "better the devil I know" and hold on a while.

Or maybe I am being naive thinking I might get a nice Queen-Green (not sure the proper colour, Balmoral?) with ivory or sand, or possibly a nice medium blue with similar interior 4.4 tdv8. That was the initial idea and its starting to look like a black with black is the best option out there for me at the moment. Every car I owned, except a Mk2 GTi years ago has been black. I need a break from trying to polish swirls out of black paint

I think sub 80K miles requirement is a tough one

You might well be spot on with that.

My intention to get <80k was based on the idea that I bought mine 3.5 years ago, a 2007 with <80k.. .So figured that 3.5 years later, looking for a car about 5 years younger should be able to find one with the miles. Maybe my budget is the thing that is the problem for my criteria.

I bought mine 5 years ago with about 83k on it. Done 95k now and in better Nick than it was when I bought it, most of the known issues fixed. I wouldn’t let mileage be too much of a hang up, but I get your point. They are getting older now, and mileage will grow.....

I still love mine. Will probably end up being the longest I’ve had a car. Only kept the 1995 BMW M5 longer....

I'd been looking at 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography's for a long time prior to finding a 2007 Supercharged that was to good a deal to turn down.

You're right about there not being many of them. Especially in Autobiography spec. Most are Vogue's in colours that I never really fancied.

have PM'd you with an ad from a Facebook page (Range rovers for sale). It is a 2010 4.4 TDV8 with 80,000 miles (ignore the KM in the ad - it's a default).

Vastly overpriced by about £4-5k but it may be of interest. It's in Nuneaton.

edit: Have just seen it's an Overfinch so may not be of interest.

Well I bought the first one I saw, just up the road. It was exactly what I was looking for- 4.4tdv8 in Baltic blue, with black leather and black headlining. Fell in love straight away. The 150k on the clock was of no concern, as I know exactly what it’s had done in the last 5 years.

I’m after changing mine for a late L322 4.4 too, ideally under 50k and fewer than 2 owners...there’s a few about but they’re top money.

I maybe unusual, but I’m not keen on a light coloured interior, so that limits the selection somewhat.

I’d consider a 5.0SC if the right one came up.

I’m not in a rush and I don’t necessarily need to p/x mine to buy the car, but it would save the hassle of selling it privately.

I guess I’ll keep looking; I don’t even know if it’s legal to travel to look at, or buy a car at the moment.

My words of advice are don't give up and don't settle for less than what you desire otherwise you may always regret it. Being prepared to travel for the right one may assist in a more successful outcome.

Personally, I had quite a specific set of requirements when buying mine and I managed to meet all of them. It'll be worth holding out for.

Nevertheless, it's always worth going to view ones that you know aren't quite what you want, just for general familiarisation as to what is typically available on the market at the price point. Kev

The main motivator for me changing was the rear wiper motor (again) 3 replacement, dozens of repairs (including orings, replacement gears) and broken again. So fed up with that.

Having looked hard for a few days, and considering the advice that there might be less cars available at the moment due to the lockdown, I have started to considering holding onto my own 3.6.

Why?
Because it has a full indy/main dealer SH - major service and MOT just done last month. And I have done more than the standard service schedule. I.e. full g/b service, and all other oils TRF box/axels? Not even sure what needs doing, but I took it to my indy when I bought it and asked them to change all the oils and mentioned axels. trf boxes, gearbox etc and said "do it all and give me the bill"

EGRS blanked
Hoses replaced
Replacement suspension air bag x2
Replacement control arm on suspension
Probably a few other odds and sods too.

Better the devil you know.

And it is a 2007 with every optional extra except the rear vanity mirrors (I checked the options list for my car and the full list) and it all works except for...

1) CD Changer recently failed. However, the rear DVD changer can play CDs so no big deal.
2) Leaky valve stems on 2 tyres.
3) Rear wiper motor
4) Very very very very minor coolant dribble at the back of the engine.

Me being me, I "need" to have everything working. 1 &2 are trivial. 3 is a pain in the neck that irks me. 4 I have lived with since day one. I need to top up coolant mix about 50-100 ml every 10,000 miles.

But for now, maybe I get mine sorted and hang on a while and wait for the perfect car.

Sainsburys also agreed to pay for a full professional polish after their car wash gave it the "Brillo pad" effect. So, with a bit of effort my own car 113k miles could be very sorted with a bit of effort.

Keep it and fix the issues. I thought I bought a good one (see my list) but had to fork out for new oil cooler and turbo eventually...and it was a forum "motor" so I expected more honesty
Remap yours maybe with Alive or Bell for a little more grunt and get it close to 4.4 figures...
Plus a 4.4 has a DPF and EGR cannot be blanked - that is a big bonus with the 3.6.
Change engine oil every 6 months mid service. DIY with a Draper 10L vacuum pump. Takes me 20mins. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
