for a 2010 car they list 2 options and both come with a 5 years warranty

it seems the 019 is the correct size so why they list a smaller one (which is £44 cheaper) and still offer 5 years warranty?.

I haven't got 5 years out of the genuine LR one so thinking of a change.

Has anyone fitted the cheaper Halfords battery? 2010 VSE [Roger]

Auto Express tested batteries a few years back and highly rated Halford's Advanced batteries with Calcium technology.

As an aside, I've had very good experience with the Hancook batteries available on Ebay. Had one on a very power hungry Audi A8 with air suspension, electric everything and a 4.2 Diesel V8 (so similar to a L322 in many regards). Was on the car for 4 years until I sold it and never a spot of bother and that car was used in-frequently, often standing for weeks at a time.

The most issues I've had have been with Bosch batteries from Euro Car Parts costing twice as much as the Hancook!

019 is the correct size. 017 isn’t......

When I put my 16MY in it comes up with the 019 AGM which is generally correct, but I would check that you have an AGM as some 2010’s did and some didn’t iirc. There was a swap over when they started putting in AGM batteries. If you haven’t got an AGM then it may be possible to tell the car you have installed one and the charging system will adapt. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Personally can’t see the smaller one. The problem will be the smaller one will be lower capacity in terms of AH and CCA. General rule of thumb is generally go as big as you can....  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

its Halford 115 AGM battery - they recommend it as an alternative to the 019 for 3.6tdv8. its 800cca and only 80 a/h but 5 year warrantee and £142 2010 VSE [Roger]

80 is a bit on the small side for a 3.6 especially if you have a FBH running. personally if you are set on the Halfords ones I would go for the larger one. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've got the Halfords one, the larger (proper size) one. Running absolutely perfect fine for about a month so far throughout extremely cold weather and short journeys  Pikey by name, not by nature

Halfords batteries are made by Yuasa. Seem to do well during independent tests.
20% discount with a Halfords trade card. Forty years of progress. 1972-2012

I've gone off Yuassa batteries, having just had a problem with a brand new one from a well known mail-order seller.

I'm not going to say who, because they've been absolutely brilliant at exchanging the battery and it's not really their fault. But I bought a Yuassa 3669 cargo for my JCB digger. Put it on my capacative tester before fitting and it was only putting out 650A CCA (EN), vs a specified 925 CCA (EN), Health was aroud 25% despite having healthy volts of 13.1.

I had it tested by a local garage as well and their Bosch analyser came up with the same results.

The seller confirmed they had a batch issue and were going to conduct a recall of the 10 or so Yuassa 669 batteries they'd sold recently, because every one they had in stock showed similar poor results.

They recommended a replacement of a Numax which they sent out without hesitation (yeah I know it sounds cheap), but it has the correct vibration resistance required for a digger application. It was rated at 950A, and was belting out a whopping 975 when tested, so happy chappy.
