2011 4.4 TDV8 Battery voltage

Hi everyone. Just bought my first FFRR and have a battery question. Sitting on the drive the battery shows around 12 volts which I assumed to be on the low side. Alternator charging at 14.7 volts so no problems there. Is a new battery recommended? Tried the FBH while parked and it seems to go through a start up cycle but then stops and the battery showed only 11.4 volts.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

David

yep new battery required. My 2011 is exactly the same. 12 v resting. Not enough to get the FBH going, which was (until the cold weather!) working fine. you may also start get "battery Low - start engine from time to time.

Exactly the same on mine, then I fitted a nice new LR Battery, as mentioned in the battery changing thread.

Finally had a great working FBH.

Cheers

So it seems. Not sure which muppet in the past thought a Fiat Ducato battery was a good idea. Not even AGM.

Think it will be a Varta G14 for me.

You don’t say what model year you have ......
If AGM battery, then you will need to reset the battery management ECU when you make the switch

I've got a Yuasa ybx5019 fitted to my 2011 tdv8 , the battery voltage has always been 12.1v at rest which has always concerned me but it's never been a problem . It was new when I bought the car 2 year's ago I do have it on a ctek 5.0 when it's not used for any length of time .
So my question is do I really need a AGM battery when I do replace it ? 2011 tdv8 4.4 vogue Santorini black

Yes, always fit an AGM to later L322. LR swapped them out for AGM for owners for good reason...non AGM are Censored  Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

But you're not comparing like with like. The cranking amps stated on the Fiat battery are measured as EN2 or SAE.

850A EN (as per the LR battery photo) is equal to roughly 720A EN2, so it's not a million miles away from spec...

Might still be goosed though, a battery load tester would give the batteries state of health.
