Warped front Brake Discs

In case anyone else gets the same symptoms and wants to know what it might be....

I had this issue for some time and having the front pads replaced just highlighted it. I would get steering wheel shake when applying the brakes at motorway speeds, not so much with really heavy braking but gradual pedal effort.

It didn't feel like it was coming from the back of the car (as you can feel that coming through the seat) so I assumed that the front discs were shot. They had only been on for 10 months, and to be honest had shown signs of warping within 2 months of being fitted. (Yes I did run them in gently Wink ).

I bought my discs from Paddock Spares as they are £20 each plus VAT & delivery as opposed to Dealer price of £46 or so each.

Even though I am still running the new discs in, there is an instant noticable change, no wobble or shake and smoooooth braking. Lets hope it lasts longer than 2 months this time!

BTW< I wanted to fit these myself as its a simple job but found my socket set useless, the caliper to hub bolts were VERY tight and bent my socket. Think I might need better quality tools! Discovery 4 HSE

I'll do my discs on the next pad change, but have never done a set of discs before. Out of interest, did Paddock give you a refund/replacement set?

No, but I didn't ask, suppose I should have but then they could have argued I didn't wear them in correctly, which I did. Maybe I was unlucky. Discovery 4 HSE

I don't recall what brand the original set were, but the ones I have just had fitted are Britpart. Discovery 4 HSE

Dealer prices are always alarmingly higher, but in my experience, it's false economy to buy pattern parts. Unless of course, you can identify who supplies Land Rover and buy those.

Euro Car parts are currently advertising "any part for any car" - they get good OE stuff. Try them? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Tried to buy some parts from ECP over the weekend, and their website completely failed on me. Not impressed, and I went to eBay in the end.

Their new site also doesn't show flags next to each item showing whether the part is OE or pattern, so it's not as easy now to buy quality parts.
