Key syncing and remote locking

First of all merry Christmas to everyone 🎄

I have had a flip key made by pixels fixed obviously through the post I sent my spare off!
When I’ve come to sync the new key it will not turn in the ignition but it will turn in the door lock?
I’ve used hold unlock and press lock 3 times method.
Because the new key would not turn in the ignition I used my primary key to turn in ignition then remove it and hold lock and unlock etc, now when I put the new key near the ignition I can hear a click but it still will not turn or lock/unlock the car??
Now my primary key will start the car but will not lock/unlock the car remotely??
Any ideas please?? have I done something wrong and deleted my primary key?
Thanks

I can't say for sure but I had a similar issue myself recently.

I believe that to sync so you can remotely lock/unlock you need to be able to turn the key in the ignition. I think that process tells the system that one particular key is about to be sync'd.

If the second key won't rotate in the ignition then I think you would need to resolve that issue first.

What I don't know is, if the key has not been configured for your car yet (linking the key to the security system with the Land Rover diagnostics or with some aftermarket one), will you be able to even rotate it in the door or ignition?

Good luck!

Reads to me like your new key hasn’t been coded to your vehicle. Without that it just won’t work. Where did that key come from? Why didn’t they code it for you?

I’ve got tools to do it, it sadly you are too far away. But any car locksmith should be able to code it to the vehicle.

I got it from pixels fixed who I’ve used before on my BMW X5!
I posted my spare to him as I wanted a flip style key and he sent me a new flip key with the blade cut he said it should just need syncing??
I’ve got the procedure but the new key will not turn in the ignition?? to start the syncing process

I would go back to pixels fixed. However if they don’t have had your car then I am miffed as to how the new key is supposed to be coded to it????

If the key is not coded to the ignition then it won’t do anything. There is a transponder in it that will communicated with the car.

This is not the same as synchronising remote control buttons to work. Not simply cutting a blade.

My order of events for a new key.

1. Buy key electronics and blank blade
2. Copy the blade from an existing key.
3. Code the transponder to the car.
4. Synchronise the remote control buttons.

It reads to me that 3 isn’t done on your car key.
