Very Nice - or just an excuse

Hi All,

I got a letter yesterday from a LR main agent near me to let me know they would book me in for a complementary software upgrafde on my FFRR and a free 152 point check to make sure the car was in tip top condition..! Razz

I assume this is a loss leader so they can let me know what does need replacing and hopefully get me to book it in with them and pay for repairs.

Unfortunately the dealer is a fair way from me (and not my local one). I was just wondering whether to phone my local one to see if they would also offer to update whatever software may be needed and the inspection.? At least I would know if anything needed doing.??

Anyone else had this recently. Ash

sounds good ashley, with the software upgrade you could have things switched on like nav in motion etc...
it'll be interesting what they find and you dont have to have it done there.. ... - .- -.

I wonder if I could be cheeky and say "whilst you're in there doing the SW upgrade, could you just enable, X, Y, Z"..?

See what they say. Ash

business must be slow - main dealers are not noted for their generosity

in fact the one i used recently was a money grabbing Censored - had the nerve to try to charge me £1 fee for using a credit card to pay a £200+ bill Mad

fortunately i carry a reasonable amount of cash so paid in cash which caused them no end of problems as they had no change and i was not going to 'round it up' Laughing

I usually find they end up giving you the change out of their own pockets because the dealership doesn't have any/enough. Laughing

If you pay cash then you should ask them for a discount....................... at least 12.5% or whatever a credit card company charges as they will have built that into their scales of charges too. Should also get discount if you pay by Debit card as supposedly it is a cash transfer too.
I also now constantly use the "Say no to 0870" website to avoid paying premium rates to listen to crappy music while I hang on the line at MY cost 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

and when you pay in £50's they get in a 'tizz' in case they are dodgy as they don't have the 'pens' as they see virtually no cash:lol:

mind you its hard getting £50's these days - must be the car/antiques dealers? - went into the bank for some and they had 2!

sorry to wander off topic!

credit card companies charge the vendor 2% on credit card transactions and 50p on debit card transactions.
i think you would be optimistic to get 12.5% discount for cash...

i'll tell you something 100% true

a friends cousin works for a big name undertakers - nowadays they remove bodies from the scene - ambulances rarely used

went to a house where a bloke had died in bed and not been discovered for a few weeks - nice!

they discovered tens of thousands in cash under the mattress - when they left the police had exceeded £50K and were still counting!
