My 2003 to 2010 conversion

Purchased a 2003 FFRR last year.

Short while after getting it, the alternator light started to come on. Needed a new one. Took the old one out and then thought, as most of the front end was off, might as well convert it to 2010 spec.

Lights were a pain to sort out. Finally got a wiring kit from ebay and it sorted out 99% of the problems. Just have a side light error on the dashboard when the car starts up, but I can live with that.

Apart from bumper, lights, grill..... I also got the door handles and bonnet vent colour coded. Added some 20" wheels and just about to add an ipod connector and DVD player etc.

Photo's taken outside my home a few weeks ago. Laughing

That's looking might fine, silver really suits the 2010 spec. 2006 Mercedes CLS

very nice. However I think you should invest in a new set of side vents (supercharged or 2011) just to top it all off. Otherwise looks the biz. Especially like your choice of factory "green" windows. Look much classier than tints IMHO.

I was originally looking for a dark grey one, but now glad i got silver. Much easier to maintain and doesn't show teh scratches up as much.

Those are actually 2010 triple vents. Not a fan of the supercharged grill.

What are the 2011 vents like?

Got a set for front and rear from steelmate. Rears work well, but fronts need an adjustment and to be connected to the parking button.

They also come with an LED display as well. Front one is on the rear view mirror and the rear one is on the inner boot lid.

Very nice and I agree about the "tints", I too was going to comment about the side vents being the right ones for a Vogue for 2010MY but you beat me to it! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I'm actually thinking of having darker windows on the rear passenger windows. WARNING: Do not read this!!! Okay, you read it but make sure you don't read this bit.

Can I ask what your insurance company wanted in the way of extra premium when you told them you had modified the car?
I know somebody who wants to do the same but the increased premiums are prohibitive with his insurer. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

From £800 it went up to £5,000

Yes.... that's Five thousand pounds

Couldn't get cheap cover as it has been modified.

In the end I went to the company that insures my "modified" Ferrari (I pay £530 for that!!!) and they sorted it out for me for £1,000. WARNING: Do not read this!!! Okay, you read it but make sure you don't read this bit.

Yes that's a similar increase to what he was offered - he is now insuring with a company that specialises in modified cars.
It's interesting that when I modified my Defender to be a Stationwagon from a Hard Top Land Rover Insurance didn't impose any increase because I had not modified the engine at all, this despite increasing the seating from 2 to 6 people! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
