You can test it yourself - just manually raise the lower door slowly onto the latch and the soft close should kick in. Current Fleet:-

Indeed, when closing manually, the soft close engages for the lower door too... Now, where to find an adjustment tutorial...

Another interesting fact - if your upper tailgate doesn't softclose when parked on the level, it may still work when parked on a hill nose up. This is because the extra force/weight exerted on the tailgate slows the powered struts more, so the door closes slower. This means that even if the door is out of slight alignment the slower closing allows the catches to softclose!

Alright, I am sure that the lower tailgate has lowered even more, the gap is more than 1 cm now. The hinges look tight, so I wonder if there is a way to adjust the length of the cables inside the door... |

I'm going to have a go at adjusting mine when the weather (and a spare set of hands) permits.

Adjust, but what? How? There is no mention of the 2 holding wires in the service manual, only the actuator is described: "The lower powered tailgate is opened and closed by one tailgate actuator mounted in place of the gas strut."

Firstly it'll be the top one through using the Powerfuluk video as a guide, then the bottom one afterwards. As to what to adjust....I don't know until I look at it. Even if a specific adjustment point is not designed in, optimisation may be possible. Kev

Good luck with the top part! The following document shows what to look for with the adjustment (mostly to get it to be flush at point 1 and recessed at point 2...)
