United States 2016 Range Rover HSE 3.0 SC V6 Santorini Black
Stop - start, preserve battery

I have a 3.0 V6 supercharged petrol in the USA. 2016. According to another thread some 2016 models do not have a secondary battery used for stop start. How do I find out if mine does?

My stop start very rarely engages. It can be an annoying feature on other cars - but on this one it has happened so rarely that it hasn't annoyed me yet. In some cases when otherwise just sitting idling I would mind it working. I went to a drive in cinema and had the engine running because I was nervous about the battery being run down from running the sound system for a long time. I could have had just the ignition on, but wanted to be sure to have enough electricity to turn on the engine again. I would expect the stop start to engage in that situation, but it never did. Just parked in P with parking brake on and engine turned on.

Do you know if the L405 has a way of preserving electricity to always be able to start? Will a secondary battery for stop start make the car always be able to start?

yours might have a secondary battery or most likely a capacitor for the stop/start..

take the right side (as you look into the load space) panel off and see what you have...

personally i dont like the stop/start so i have disconnected mine... ... - .- -.

if you have a secondary batery then you disconnect the earth to it, if a capacitor then diconnect the signal wire to the VQM [voltage quality module]
