Should switch off if you press the off button. Mine does as did my Td6 when I had it. John

I havn't got a remote for mine but it's started working since the temperature has dropped. |

I’d say that’s working as normal. It’s primary purpose is to help the engine get to temperature faster. The climate stuff is just a bonus.
