Noisy Dunlop air strut

This has been going on since I bought the full fat last year. Sometimes being very noticeable, sometimes not so much, really.
The front left side air strut produces a creaking sound when driving at slow speed over bumps or even upon mild acceleration.
I am aware of the defective Dunlop struts, this has been well documented but if this is the case, then the previous owner did not follow up to have it replaced under warranty. So no way I could pursue such remedy.
All this time, I have experienced no other ill effects whatsoever and the suspension works just fine. Having done in excess of 20K Km like this, I don’t think it is something to worry about and I will probably continue to live with it until the first strut fails.
However, I wonder if anyone has come up with any easy fix for this. I have observed that the noise goes away when I loosen the top nut. I even tried to lubricate the top mount and slightly rotate a bit the rod by 90 degreed using the hexagon wrench with some overall improvement.

Any thoughts welcome.
