It's dead easy actually, just plug and play and a 10 minute job.

Note that this will not work on MY2013 models.

Part number is GPLA-18A802-DG (used on both the L494 and L405).

Here's what you do:

1. Remove the leather fascia surrounding the touchscreen
2. Remove the two alloy finishing pieces either side of the console
3. Remove the wood fascia surrounding the heater controls
4. Remove the four screws holding the heater control panel in place
5. Disconnect the electrical connector on the rear of the heater control panel
6. Installation of the new part is the opposite of removal of the old part

Job done Thumbs Up Kev

I’m pretty sure my car does that anyway, but a handy mod none the less

Yes, you're right Andy. The feature was released in 2015.

On 2013 and 2014 models, the only way to turn on the heated or cooled seats is via the touchscreen. Kev

I'm sure I could remove and sell it for the same price (or maybe more than) I bought it for, when my L405 and I parts ways. I therefore class it as a free mod, overall.

Aside from the functionality enhancement, which I described as 'minor' in my original post, for me, the main benefit is the satisfaction of trying it out and succeeding. Kev

Then I totally get why you did it. Great idea and well worth it.

Great mod , can you confirm the part number as after a Google it seems a few have done this mod but using a slightly different part number , which is the same but ending in DH which replaced the original part number ending in DG. Thanks in advance 2015 4.4 AB

Mine definately ended in DG.

It's the first and second portions of the part number that's important. The first bit defines the generation, the second bit defines the configuration. Kev

Note for anyone else doing this - don't get one that begins with HPLA because the CAN speed is different and it therefore won't work. Kev
