Norway 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi there, if your're still searching for info I'd be happy to give some advice as an Norwegian. First of all. You don't need an expedition rig! The roads are good and well maintained. However proper nordic winter tyres non studded or studded is a must. It can be plenty of ice and snow.

As regards for choosing a route going north I'd highly recommend travelling along the coastal route https://www.kystriksveien.no/?lang=en. Make sure you have enough time to ecplore Lofoten. It's absolutely amazing. The North cape is a bit overrrated. Travelling south on E6 passing the polar circle is a good drive. Driving through North of Sweden is monotonous.

You would be able to drive from France to the ferryport in Denmark, Hirtshals in a day if you're willing to spend some hours in the car.

If it suits you budget travelling part of the distance with Hurtigruten is also a great way to cover distance while exploring the shores of Norway. (Bergen_Trondheim-Bodø) https://www.hurtigruten.co.uk/?_ga=2.43615...GZEALw_wcB

Enjoy the ride when possible Smile

Thanks for taking the time to post that, we have had to put it on hold due to Covid and other medical issues so not sure when we will get up there, I'll be in touch as and when we do though... Thumbs Up Pete

You're welcome to! We had to cancel our planned UK trip (with the Defender) this summer as well. Hopefully we'll be back to a more normal situation from 2022. Fingers crossed!

In the meantime....

U can see the lights from the U.K.

1) I D a decent U.K. hotel far north or on the dark moors.

2) Weather map such as windy

3) app that predicts sun spots and gives three days warning of potential lights.

When 3 kicks off, check 2 for a clear night , then book 1 & start driving!

At least it’s a plan. One I have meant to do, still on the list.

The UK is a good tip. We regularly get fantastic light shows up in NE Scotland. An example not too far from home

Plenty other great locations see here : https://www.visitscotland.com/see-do/lands...rn-lights/

Fortunately, although it's even more confusing up here as our First Miniature had to invent her own tiers just to be different from the rest of the UK, not all is shut. In Moray and Highland region we have rather grudgingly been classed as Tier one by Nicola so pretty restriction free in the northern lights areas. You can even get a proper drink with your evening meal as well! Rolling with laughter

Thanks for all the info guys, we did the Scotland tour a few years back (not to see the lights though) and wanted to go somewhere that was an adventure just getting there, mind you with the state of play at the moment Scotland is a great alternative...

Is there a "best time of year" to see them and how "guaranteed" are you to see them in Scotland..?? Pete

Dark clear winter skies give the best displays so Nov/Dec to March are the months when most often seen i.e. the snow tyre season up here.

Unfortunately, like most things in life, nothing is "guaranteed" Laughing

There is a northern lights app if u search in App Store .. will give u three days notice

As I said ‘Windy App’ will give u the weather

Seatown gave u a hotel! I might nowresurrect the idea myself Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
