Retrofit LED main beams

I'm assuming I might be late to the party on this one, but I see Osram produce a retrofit LED replacement range that includes H7 fitment (ie L322 main beams). Reading the blurb they look brilliant, banging on about how much better they are than normal bulbs in your healdights etc., then they tell you that they aren't ECE approved and can't be used on the road in the UK, WTF is the point of making them then?!

Clearly, they are going to be used on the road, and given they would be main beam only, I can't see why that would be a problem. Does anyone know if they are a direct replacement and don't either blink or throw a bulb failure error? Drives:
