Electric rear seat folding -

Bench type rear seat (not executive)
Being a taller person I have the driver seat as far back as it will go on it travel.
I understand that if I activate the rear seat fold (either part 60 or 40) it will detect that the driver seat in a position for potential clash & move the seat base forward & tilt the recline forward.
It will then continue & finish the fold function.
Great -
But what happens to the front seat -
Does it return back fully to its original setting - I don't mid if I have to reselect my stored memory.
As long as it goes back to where I want it.
I am hoping that when the rear seats are folded I have to then drive in an uncomfortable position?
Thanks

I've got the Executive seats, so they may be slightly different but the seat moves back as far as it can when the seats are folded. In my case, that's slightly further forward than my normal seating position, but not much. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Thanks for that -
I'm use to a Disco 5 - the headrests fold down on that so the fold happens with the front seats staying where they are.
Which is ideal/right/best.
I often travel with the rear seat folded - OK maybe just one side - but I don't really want to sacrifice front seat comfort & position to have the rear seat folded.
I have ready that the non electric/standard rear headrest can be removed easily so may be that would be the answer.
That will give more space - however I don't know what triggers the potential clash position.

There must be others out there of a taller stature that have experience with this ????

My assumption is the clash position is a programmed position based on the rear head rests being at their highest point. The photo below shows mine once the seat has folded back - the system leaves loads of space as my drivers seat was much further back than that before the rear seat folded. However with the rear headrests at the lowest point on the seatback I can then move the drivers seat back almost all the way (bar about 1 - 2 cm) using the seat controls.

From the 2016 manual it mentions this clash position

Intelligent seat cargo mode is used in vehicles with powered front and rear seats. Intelligent seat cargo mode allows the user to fold and unfold the rear seats, avoiding a clash with the front seats.

The front seats move slightly forward if there is a likelihood of a clash when folding or unfolding the rear seats. When the fold manoeuvre is complete, the front seats return to their original position, or as close as possible if a clash condition still exists.

After the rear seats begin to fold, they may stop moving to allow the front seats to move to a safe position. Should this occur, keep the buttons pressed or the front seat movement will stop. As soon as the front seats are clear, the rear seats will resume the fold manoeuvre.

The front seats only move if the vehicle is stationary.

The driver's seat only moves if the transmission is in Park (P).

Front seat movement can be cancelled at any time, by pressing any of the front seat switches. Current Fleet:-

Thanks for the picture - looks as if (as you) the driver seat can go back almost to its furthest position.
If not looking at that if the headrest is removed there would be stacks of space.

Certainly something for me try during a test drive -

Its just one of those things that is important to me but may be not to the next 100.

Thanks again - - - -

I am also tall and use the seat almost as far as it will go. I also have bench seats. Most of the time, the front seats just go forward and stay there when folding the rear ones, so I have to press the memory to get it to the driving position. But I would say every 5-7 folds the front seats also go to the memorized position by themselves! I cannot understand this inconsistency... But in any case, even if the front seat is sent to the rear at maximum, it still doesn't touch the folded seat. Of course, the rear headrests have to be pushed in as they are manual...

I’m 6ft4, once fully folded the drivers seat goes back to my preset position.

Not been an issue for me anytime i’ve folded the rear seat.

Many thanks - took a test drive today.
Yes - with the driver seat in my comfortable driving position the rear seat starts to fold then detects the potential clash the front seat then moves both forward and the rake tilts forward once out of the way the rear seat continues to fold.
Once this done by the time I have shut the tailgate and got round to the driver door and opened it the driver seat is back to where I had it.
Checking behind the front seat there is still a small amount of clearance.

Again thanks ———-

Worth noting someone in the future reading this. The 2013-14 cars do not move the drivers seat, you have to do this yourself, everything looks the same but it must be the software.

I am that future person. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe the Gap tool would be able to program this.
